It is with a combination of sorrow and immense gratitude that we at Our Lady of Sorrows Church are announcing the retirement of our pastor, His Excellency Bishop William Greene, OSA. He will be taking up residence in Orlando upon his relinquishing of his pastoral duties.
Bishop Greene took over the position of pastor here upon the death of his mentor and predecessor, Bishop Timothy Hennebery, OSA.
Since June of 2012, he has guided and maintained the original goals and the aspirations of our church with unwavering devotion and diligence.
While many within our group were concerned about our ability to continue with only the one clergy member, Bishop Greene valiantly maintained operations for more than 11 years. Without his hard work and heroic dedication to us as well as his vocation, we most certainly would not be functioning today.
In accordance with his wishes, Father Jonathan Derrington will be assuming the role of pastor and Superior of the Oratory of St. Augustine, and will endeavor to continue the work of our previous pastors. We would like to thank him for all his assistance, and to welcome him with open arms.
Please join us in expressing our extreme gratitude and appreciation for all Bishop Greene has accomplished here, and assure him of our love, respect and best wishes for a peaceful and well-deserved retirement.
There will be a retirement party in the church hall on Sunday, 10/22 at 1:30 p.m. to celebrate Bishop Greene’s tenure here and to wish him well in all his future endeavors.
May God continue to bless him and Our Lady of Sorrows keep him under her mantle. We will miss you, and love you dearly.
